How difficult is it to install
Pre-cut Headlight Protection Film Kits?
Although installing precut kits is can be significantly easier and less time
consuming than installing film by the roll, it can still be a difficult
process. Although many sites claim their kits are easy to install, we
recommend you review the installation procedures outlined to make sure
our product meets your needs. Installation difficulty depends on the
ability of the installer, the particular headlight or fog light being
protected and the
compound surface of the light as it will require heat
stretching for proper installation.
What is the difference between Protection and Tint Film?
Protection and Tint film are both designed to change the color of the
lens, without greatly changing the output color. Protection film
however is designed to protect your lights from small road debris, UV
damage, sand and weather. Tint film is 3 mil (.0042") thick and
protection film is 15 mil or (.021") thick. As protection film is
five times thicker, heat is required for proper installation.
What Headlight Protection application
tools do you recommend?
Rvinyl recommends the use of an application squeegee which will reduce
air bubbles during installation and aide in heat conforming the light.
By using a low friction sleeve, you will reduce the chance of scratching
your headlight protection film during application. Application solutions such as
Rapid Prep will remove any dirt or debris from your lights and Rapid Tac
will aide in the wet application of our protection kits and Rapid Clear will
act as a finishing agent and polish. We strongly recommend the use of
these products to achieve professional results.
How much does it cost to have my
headlights professionally protected or tinted?
The cost of tinting depends on the film being used and the vehicle being
applied to. In general, the cost is $90 - $120 for headlight tint installation
and even greater for protection film installation. If you are purchasing this kit and plan on
having a professional installer apply the protection, you will generally not
save money. Installers profit is derived from the labor, not the
film costs and it is in their best interest to have as many billable
labor hours as possible. These kits are designed for the do-it-yourself
minded individual, if you plan on having this kit installed
professionally we recommend you purchase their film and installation
service.
Do you offer a warranty?
Rvinyl offers a Standard Warranty of 3 years. These professional grade films are guaranteed to not
fade, peel, crack, bubble or turn purple when installed by a licensed
professional. Warranty protection is only applicable for professionally
installed protection / protection kits. Rvinyl.com will guarantee that the film will not
fade or change color, we can not extend any further warranties unless
this film is professionally installed.
What is the legal headlight protection shade for my state?
Clear Protection films are legal. Colored films may not be legal for street use on primary lighting.
Please check your state or local laws before application. Our colored
films do not produce a blue or red light when lit. All non-clear films
are intended for off-road show car use only.
Do you offer kits for my
taillights?
We do offer many popular car model pre-cut kits in our
tail light tint kits
section. |
