Tyler's 2014 Impreza with 4D Carbon Fiber Dash Kit

Jim's 2014 Subaru Impreza

We first found out about Jim's awesome install of our precut 2014 Subaru Impreza dash kit when he left a review for it linked to his ongoing post on the NASIOC forum detailing all the mods he has put into his Impreza. It's a cool thread and really shows all he's put into it so I recommend you check it out. But, before you do that, check out the photos and the compilation video here which give you an idea of the fitment of our dash kits as well as a close-up look at our 4D carbon fiber finish.

The Impreza in Carbon Fiber

We'll be the first to admit that carbon fiber might not be the right look for every car/ For example, your grandfather's Oldsmobile might look better in a scrap yard or in wood grain than with a carbon fiber dash trim but a Subaru Impreza or Mitsubishi Lancer? Definitely all in for carbon fiber. As you can see from the photos, the 2014 Impreza dash trim fits pretty well and the high-gloss finish of the 4D black carbon fiber looks realistic enough that you need to do a double take to see that it isn't. This is especially the case in the pic directly below where the trim pieces for the center console and center air vents actually wraps around to give the illusion that they are made from real carbon fiber. Nice touch, no?

You might be surprised to find out that the 4D carbon fiber shown here isn't the only finish we offer on our Rdash line of interior trim kits. In fact, 4D isn't eve our most popular carbon fiber. That title is reserved for our satin finished, 3D black carbon fiber. The main difference is, of course, the finish: 4D has a glossy, shiny finish so it looks like real carbon fiber that has been domed with polyurethane (like our Benevento dash kits) as opposed to the 3D which has a matte finish with a texture that you can actually feel. In addition to the black, the 3D film also comes in a variety of other colors so you can find the right carbon fiber for just about any job.

Rvinyl Dash Kits: A First-Hand Account

It's one thing to hear about how great our dash kits are when we tell it but it's a completely different animal to hear it from the mouth of an actual customer. We encourage you to check out the review that Jim left on the 2014 Impreza dash kit to see his review but we also thought it might be nice to include his thoughts about installing the kit that he left on the NASIOC forum.

The vinyl looks pretty good on the trim in my opinion especially the radio surround, shifter surround and the dash trim. The steering wheel accents look decent but I have already noticed a bit of lifting on some of those pieces due to your hands touching there while driving. A word of caution for this install, trimming the vinyl is required with a razor so use caution while handling it near to your interior surfaces. The pieces provided are pretty close to the exact size but you will have to cut for a nice finish. I have not installed the entire kit as some surfaces look like they would not accept the vinyl adhesive nicely and really I was just looking to cover the silver trim in my car. I give it a 4/5, works really nicely on a lot of the surfaces in the car and is a very affordable mod. There are some tricks to the install but patience and a steady hand should get the job done.
