5 Points to Consider for Your ATV Wrap

5 Points to Consider when Wrapping your ATV

Size of Your ATV

Thankfully, most ATVs are around the same in terms of their size but you will want to ensure you take good measurements before you start.

Types of ATV

Nearly every brand and model of ATV can be wrapped, just make sure to wrap the hard, non-porous pieces only. There is an endless amount of four-wheelers that you can customize, but here's a list of the most commonly wrapped quads:

  • Yamaha
  • Can-Am
  • Honda Rincon 680
  • Arctic Cat
  • Polaris Sportsman
  • Kubota UTV and RTV
  • Kymco MXU 450i
  • Kawasaki Brute Force
  • Suzuki Kingquad

ATV Dimensions

So with those brands listed, you will wonder what their dimensions would be. For the most part, they're within the same range, with a few varieties.

  • Length: A majority of ATVs are 80 to 85 inches (203 - 216 cm) long. The average length of an ATV is 82.9 inches (211 cm). The Touring ATV models are around 5 - 10 inches longer than default models.

  • Width: The width of your ATV is usually the most critical measurement when starting a customization project. The majority of ATVs are 45 to 50 inches (114-127cm) wide. The average ATV width is 47.4 inches (122,7cm). Keep in mind that ATVs that are customized with wheel spacers/bigger wheel lift kits are much wider. The average width for all ATVs is just over 47 inches. You will want to make sure you have enough vinyl to cover your ATV, after all.

  • Height: A majority of ATVs are 46 to 52 inches (117 - 132 cm) high. The average height of an ATV is 48.9 inches (124 cm). The Hi-lift models are around 1-3 inches taller than the default model, though.

Getting the right measurements will make or break your project and affect how much money you need to put in for it. It is also a crucial time-saver.

Vinyl Wrap's Design

The design and complexity of the design you choose will have an impact on the price. Choosing a color change wrap without printing can reduce costs. Here we will explore how the vinyl wrap's design can benefit you.

1. Ideal Personalization

There's no need to deal with the expensive costs of having your ATV painted or deal with the mess that comes from it. Especially if you're trying to make custom designs. With our ATV wraps, customizing your ATV will be a breeze. You can choose a single-color wrap or you can create digital prints and have them cut out on the vinyl, where you can then apply them to your off-roader. With wraps you are in full control of how you want your ATV to look, so you can choose to wrap your ride partially in certain areas or give it a full wrap. There's only so much you can do with paints, however, you can achieve all kinds of three/four-dimensional patterns with vinyl. Diamond Plate, Carbon Fibers, and so much more.

2. Save Cash

Saving cash is something everyone wants to do in a hobby, and you know that customizing your ride will take some cash. Especially if you want it done right. And for a paint job, some factors need to be considered before even brainstorming colors, such as:

  • Supply cost: You will need to gather up a lot of supplies if you want a clean, hassle-free paint job. Paints can be, along with the accessories, clear protective coats, and special finishes.
  • Pre-painting costYou'll need to prep your ATV before you even think about painting it. You must give it a thorough cleaning, and might need special cleaning/prepping tools and a few others to ensure everything comes together.
  • Professional cost: If you're a novice or think that you can paint it right away, don't expect it to turn out professional looking. Hiring a professional is a must if you want perfect results, and since you will be taking responsibility for more than the price of your supplies, you'll need to have a good chunk of cash ready for this.

When you calculate all of these factors together, from the prep to the supplies to hiring a professional, you'll be spending hundreds to maybe even a thousand dollars. Utilizing vinyl wraps is a far better option to save cash and get professional-level results. Vinyl also has some cool perks such as:

  • A lot of manufacturers create ATV and side-by-side vinyl wraps to be straightforward to install by yourself, in the familiar setting of your garage or other preferred workspaces.
  • You set your own pace during the application process, so there's no pressure in terms of time.
  • Vinyl wrap can be peeled and applied often with no damage to your ride. So if you get tired of one particular color or design, you can simply peel it off and start again.

3. Super Durable

As its brand says, ATVs are meant to traverse all sorts of terrains and settings, and because of that, they will accumulate cosmetic damage from weather and hard objects. Lucky for you, our premium vinyl wraps incorporate UV protection and abrasion resistance. These traits stop colors from fading away and minimalize expected scratches, scuffs, and other cosmetic damages while you're off-roading.

Do not worry though, all of our products at Rvinyl come with a three-year warranty against fading, cracking, and peeling just in case.

Compared to vinyl, paint jobs require repairs and touch-ups regularly, along with yearly maintenance to combat inevitable scratches, fading, and chipping. Keeping your painted ATV maintained will cost money and time, which will just take time away from your off-roading adventures.

Vinyl that gets damaged, can easily be fixed at home. And since ATV wraps are resistant to fading, you will always have a seamless fix and not have to worry about misaligned colors. You also won't have to wrap the entire ATV over.

Installation Time

While you are selecting which wrap is right for you, consider your skill level. If you're new to the hobby, it may take some time, but we offer comprehensive guides to get you going!

If you go the paint job route with your ride, you may end up dealing with an unpleasant, messy situation regardless of the prep you take. There's no need to bother with all that prep work if you want an even better alternative with a less messy result. Stick to vinyl. ATV wraps are simple to apply on your own and don't need much space or prepping. If, after you install your vinyl and you are looking to remove or replace your vinyl with an alternate vinyl/design or any other reason, either you or a professional can remove it quite easily with no damage to your ATVs surface.

The Parts You'll Want to Wrap

Your ATV is comprised of a variety of small parts you can customize, such as:

  • Clutch Covers
  • Handlebars
  • Calipers
  • Tanks
  • Mirrors
  • Windscreen
  • Fenders

You can customize each part to your heart's content to truly personalize your ATV. You can also be minimalist and just customize a small portion of your ride with a basic color.

Your Budget

Your budget should probably be the first thing you consider when you're wrapping your ATV. Regardless of where you put it, it is going to be a major factor to consider. Two crucial things to consider would be:

  • Its design: Several ATV hobbyists like to create unique designs for their rides using vinyl. The pricing for these designs hinges on the amount of different types of vinyl the incorporate along with how much time it will to finish the design. If this is the method you want to do, then we highly recommend that you create a sketch on paper or make a render in a drawing program before placing an order. This lets you get accurate dimensions and significantly reduces your chances of ordering the wrong piece. It can also become a handy guide for you as you install it on your quad.
  • The vinyl: At Rvinyl, we are proud to say we carry industry-leading vinyl from 3M™, Avery Dennison®, and ORACAL®. Do keep in mind that the price range between these bands will vary, along with their different finishes and colors.
