Rtint® Chameleon Smoke Tint Wraps Installation

The best and quickest way to learn how to install our Chameleon color change tints is by watching one of our installation tutorials. At the present, we do not have a video showing you how to install the tint on every possible type of light housing and lens but the basic technique will always be the same. Besides the videos we've also spent the time to write detail installation guides that you can read or download from our site and which we include with your Rtint® Chameleon Smoke wrap as well.

Some other things to consider that will determine the difficulty of installation are:

  • Your skill level and familiarity with Rtint®
  • The complexity of the surface to be wrapped
  • Using the correct installation tools and fluids

Recommended Application Tools

Installation can be tricky but, with the right tools, anyone can successfully install an Rtint® Chameleon wrap. In general we recommend the following tools to get the job done right.

Is Rtint® Chameleon Tint Legal?

Rtint® Chameleon films do not significantly reduce light output or change its color. Nonetheless, any colored or tinted Rtint® tint films may not be legal for street use on primary lighting. Please check your state and local laws before application. All Rtint® tinting films are intended for show-use only and not meant for use on public roads.

Can Rtint® Be Applied to My Windows or Mirrors?

Even though this Chameleon film transmits 85% off visible light it is not optically clear. As a result, please do not apply to your windows or mirrors.

What Does 85% VLT Mean?

Rtint® Chameleon Smoke film, is one of our coolest, most eye-catching tint films. Just check out the 2016 Subaru Impreza with Chameleon tinted taillights above. This film will add an attractive, color change look to your lights, reducing light output by 15% while still allowing 85% of light to enter the housing. In other words, Rtint® Chameleon film won't have a noticeable impact on the light transmitted.

Used it on my 2006 Audi A3 - 1st bought in nov (order #290759) had it up until recently, I bought another roll cause the first one for some reason when I went to an Audi dealer and they wash my car one started pealing off the top neon part ... but my second order (#300737) still love it ... I got the pearl this time but it looks very similar to the chameleon one ?

I really wanted something amazing that I had not seen done before when i came across this color changing tint. It is awesome. It shifts color depending on the angle your are looking at your light from and also changes color depending on how the sun hits it. Installation was easy, peel and stick. No effect at night. Love it!

Can this go on a windshield?
March 1, 2022 9:31 AM
Mackenzie, yes you can put it on your windshield as a visor strip but not on your entire windshield. It does not have the optical clarity like say window film. There are also laws on how far down you can go, so be sure and check with your local DOT or state to make sure you are in compliance. If you decide to go down this route, please share some love! #RVINYL
