Benito, Vinyl film manufacutres don't typically offer a color match. I would probably say the best film for our Mustang would be the Gloss Burnt Orange by 3M. 3M 2080 Film Start with a small sheet to make sure it will work for your Ford's wrap. Any questions, feel free and contact us.

I have a 1994 Mustang drag race car, never did a wrap before, couple questions, I have painted cars in the past, have a heat gun, what else do I need and do you have directions for the process? I am looking for a bright gloss tangerine color, the hood and trunk lid will be black, so for the rest of the car how much orange wrap will I need and for thtrunk lid and hood which has a 5 inch cowl scoop how much black will I need? (Not sure on the black, satin, gloss or carbon fiber.) thanks, Neal

Hey Neal, It's awesome that you're looking to wrap your 1994 Mustang drag race car. Wrapping a car can give it a fresh, new look and it's definitely something you can take on if you've painted cars before. Here's a general guide to the process and the materials you will need, and some approximate calculations for the amount of wrap you'll need. Materials: Vinyl Wrap Film: For a bright gloss tangerine color for the body and your choice of black (satin, gloss, or carbon fiber) for the hood and trunk lid. Heat Gun: You mentioned you already have one. Squeegee: Preferably with a felt edge to help smooth out the vinyl. Utility Knife: To trim the vinyl. Primer: Some people use primer to promote adhesion. Surface Cleaner: To remove any dirt, oil, or other residues. Detailing Brushes and Gloves: These will help with the application process. Tape Measure: To get accurate measurements for your vinyl needs. Process: Clean the Car: Thoroughly wash and clean the car to remove any dirt or grime. Measure and Cut the Vinyl: Measure the surfaces you'll be wrapping and cut the vinyl accordingly, adding a few inches for safety. Remove Parts if Necessary: Things like mirrors, handles, etc., can be removed to make the wrapping process easier. Apply Primer if Using: This can help with adhesion. Position the Vinyl: Start with one section, peel the backing, and place the vinyl. Heat and Stretch: Using your heat gun, warm the vinyl to make it more pliable and stretch it over the surface. Squeegee Out Air Bubbles: Start from the center and move outward to remove any air bubbles. Trim Excess: Carefully trim any excess using a utility knife. Repeat: Repeat the process for other parts of the car. Post-Heat: Some professionals post-heat the vinyl to around 180°F to make sure the vinyl has properly adhered. Amount of Vinyl: The amount of vinyl needed depends on the specific dimensions of your vehicle. A 1994 Mustang typically requires around 18-22 yards of vinyl for a complete wrap. For the bright gloss tangerine color (excluding hood and trunk), you'll probably be on the lower end of that range, so around 18 yards. For the black hood and trunk, including a 5-inch cowl scoop: Hood: Around 5 x 6 feet = 30 square feet Trunk Lid: Roughly the same, so another 30 square feet So, for the black areas, you'll need around 60 square feet, or about 7 yards. These are approximate numbers, so I would suggest adding a little extra to be on the safe side. Remember, wrapping a car can be a detailed and time-consuming process, especially the first time you do it. Consider seeking professional help if you're unsure about anything, and always follow the instructions that come with your specific vinyl wrap product. Good luck with the wrap, Neal! It sounds like it's going to look fantastic!
