Sticker Bomb Vinyl

Sticker Bomb Vinyl

Sticker bombing is an art form that can turn a plain, ordinary surface into an eye-catching and creative spectacle. If you love the sticker art look, you can get it without collecting crazy amounts of stickers. The solution is sticker bomb vinyl wraps. Rwraps™ sticker bomb films from Rvinyl let you quickly and easily add the sticker art aesthetic to anything you can think of.

The History of Sticker Bombing

Sticker bombing — also known as sticker slapping, sticker tagging or slap tagging — is a form of street art that started in the 1980s and '90s. Artists would "slap" their signature stickers or decals onto surfaces in public places in a similar style as a graffiti tag. Over time, stickers would accumulate on a surface until they'd covered the whole area, creating an eclectic and colorful collage.

Sticker bombing in public spaces primarily occurs in urban areas. In many cities, you'll spot stickers on street signs, bike racks, walls, light poles, mailboxes and plenty of other surfaces.

Sticker bombing is also a hallmark of the Japanese domestic market scene, which began booming during the '80s and '90s. JDM vehicle owners would customize their cars with stickers to show off their mods and affiliations.

Sticker Bombing in JDM Culture

JDM enthusiasts in the U.S. and other countries love cars created for the Japanese market because of their limited availability and their use for drifting, an extreme racing sport. Some anime classics and the Fast and the Furious franchise have also contributed to JDM's popularity.

Sticker Bomb Vinyl

American JDM enthusiasts can sometimes get older Japanese models imported to the U.S., or they can start with an American-market model and modify it one part at a time until it's a copy of a JDM model. Considering the time and expense involved in getting a JDM model, it's no wonder these JDM fans enjoy taking the time to put a unique stamp on their ride through stickers, giving it the edge that enhances the sporty appearance.

Beyond the JDM scene, all drivers who are into tuner culture — meaning they enjoy making aftermarket modifications to customize their cars — can use sticker bomb vinyl to express themselves through their rides.

Sticker Bombing Today

Today, many people embrace the sticker bombing aesthetic by covering part or all of their favorite objects in stickers. While it's common to see a few stickers on a person's laptop, guitar case or car bumper, sticker bombing usually involves covering at least a portion of an item in overlapping stickers, so the original surface is no longer visible.

Sticker bombing often involves collecting stickers that speak to your identity. They may be symbols or slogans for political causes you support, logos for brands you're loyal to or pop culture icons you love. Or, it may be a collection of random images that create that classic, colorful sticker bomb look when combined.

What Are Sticker Bomb Wraps?

What Are Sticker Bomb Wraps?

The traditional method of collecting and applying individual stickers is time-consuming and expensive. For instance, it could easily take hundreds of stickers to cover a car's hood, and you would have to trim all the stickers along the outside edges to create straight lines. What if you could achieve the sticker bomb look without having to collect all those separate stickers and do the work to apply them? Here's where sticker bomb wraps come in.

Graffiti sticker bomb wraps come in vinyl sheets you can cut to fit nearly any surface. Instead of applying individual stickers, wraps give you instant coverage and achieve that classic sticker bomb aesthetic. These wraps come in various styles, so you can still get the custom look you're after. Some sticker art wraps deviate from the traditional bomb look by featuring a more cohesive design or pattern.

Regardless of which style you choose, Rvinyl offers Rwraps™ that make it easy for you to get the sticker bomb results you want. Whether you're covering a car hood, a drum or anything else, vinyl wraps are a faster, easier and more durable option for creating a cool, custom look.

What Can You Cover With Sticker Bomb Wraps?

There's no limit to what you can do with Rwraps™ films. Rwraps™ come in three different widths, and you can purchase the material by the foot or in rolls of up to 10 yards. This versatility makes it easy to cover objects of any size. They're also durable enough for indoor and outdoor use, which leaves your possibilities wide open. You can wrap anything from entire walls or vehicles to objects like headphones and phone cases.

To spark your creativity, here are some examples of what you can cover in sticker bomb vinyl.

  • Skateboards: Sticker bombing aligns closely with the skater aesthetic, so it's common to see people cover their skateboards in stickers to give them that urban street art feel. You can transform an ordinary skateboard into something that's more distinctly you with a wrap. Shocker wraps are an especially ideal choice if you want to show off various logos and the edgy shock hand gesture.
  • Laptops: Why put only one or two stickers on your laptop when you could cover the whole surface in a fun sticker bomb design? Choose from cartoon wraps, surfer wraps — whatever look fits your personality and interests. When you get out your laptop at school, work or your local cafe, other people will wonder why they've settled for drab, neutral-colored laptops.
  • Gaming equipment: Gamers can use sticker wraps on their gaming PCs or consoles to transform the look. Harajuku wraps or cartoon wraps are also perfect for making your gaming accessories, like headphones and controllers, more fun and vibrant. Especially if you like to livestream, this can be an excellent way to help you stand out.
  • Instruments: Musicians, especially in the punk scene, don't settle for something ordinary. Sticker art wraps provide the perfect means to upgrade the look of an electric guitar, bass or the cases you carry them in. They're also popular with drummers, who often use stickers to personalize their drum shells.
  • Walls: With a large sticker bomb film, you can quickly convert a plain, white wall in your home or office into something extraordinary. Especially if you want to cultivate a fun, urban aesthetic, graffiti sticker bomb wraps are a perfect choice. They'll give you something truly unique you won't get with a paint color or typical wallpaper.
  • Motorcycles and ATVs: Motorcycle owners can wrap part or all of their bike in sticker bomb vinyl. Bikers can also wrap their helmets to show off their style while staying safe on the open road. You can also use these wraps to customize ATVs or any other recreational vehicle.
  • Vehicle exteriors: Since Rwraps™ are durable enough for outdoor use, they're perfect for wrapping your car's exterior. You can cover your car with a full wrap or opt to wrap specific parts, like the hood, fenders, roof, mirrors or trunk. If you're looking to accessorize your JDM ride, opt for JDM wraps that show off iconic JDM marques, drift brands and pop culture symbols.
  • Vehicle interiors: When you put your personal touch on your car's exterior, don't forget the part you'll see when you're driving. You can also use sticker wraps to customize your car's interior. Cover the dashboard and interior trim in JDM wraps or other sticker wraps to personalize the look. You can even choose the jeans wrap to create the illusion of denim in your car.

Benefits of Sticker Bomb Films

Benefits of Sticker Bomb Films

There are plenty of reasons to consider sticker tagging your vehicle or other prized possessions with vinyl Rwraps™ from Rvinyl. Here are some of the primary benefits you can cash in on.

  • Customization: If you don't like settling for ordinary, you don't have to. Sticker art wraps can help you turn your car or anything else into a unique art piece that will impress all your friends. Sticker bombing has always been about putting your mark on something, so there's no better way to make your car, skateboard or other possessions uniquely yours.
  • Affordability: If you want to switch up your car's look with a new paint job, it could easily cost you thousands of dollars or more for custom work. With Rwraps™, you can get a custom look for a tiny fraction of that price. Everyone should be able to modify their ride, their space or their stuff without their bank account taking a hit.
  • Easy installation: Rwraps™ are ideal for simple DIY installation. With Rwraps™, you can transform your vehicle's look in an hour or two with minimal tools. Every sticker bomb vinyl film we offer uses air-release adhesives, which means you don't need to use any messy slip solutions or extra glues. The primary tool you need is a heat gun. You'll also need a flat object you can use to smooth out the vinyl.
  • Simple removal: Another plus is that you don't have to commit to leaving your sticker bomb wrap on forever. These wraps are non-permanent, so you only need to leave them on as long as you love the look. If you're ready for a refresh, you can remove your wrap to show off the surface underneath or to apply a new wrap.
  • Smooth finish: Unlike layers of individual stickers, which won't create an even surface and may peel in spots, sticker bomb wraps are smooth and even across the top. Rwraps™ feature unique air-release channels that make it easy to achieve a smooth finish, free of any air bubbles, when you apply them.
  • Versatility: As we've seen, sticker wraps are incredibly versatile. Your imagination's the limit when it comes to all the places you can apply your wrap. Maybe you want to wrap your car hood, but you end up with some leftover vinyl. Why not use that to add some accents inside the car or to give your favorite water bottle, laptop or anything else a fun, animated look?
  • Durability: Since our vinyl wraps can stand up to outdoor conditions, you can apply them to your vehicle or to other objects that get exposed to the elements. Vinyl wraps won't last forever, but they can remain smooth, intact and vibrant for an impressive length of time, come rain or shine.

Applying Vinyl Sticker Art Wraps

Applying sticker bomb wraps is a relatively quick, straightforward process when you use Rwraps™. These wraps are especially for DIY and restyling enthusiasts, so you can let your creativity run wild. For example, here are the fundamental steps for covering the hood of a car.

  1. Clean the surface: To get your wrap to adhere well, you need to ensure the surface is spotless. Clean your car's hood or whatever else you plan to wrap, then let it dry for at least 24 hours before you apply your wrap.
  2. Place the wrap: With your vinyl still on the backing paper, drape it over the surface to figure out the right size and placement. Then, cut the piece, leaving a little bit of overhang you can trim later.
  3. Remove the lining: Now, you can remove the vinyl wrap from the backing paper and drape it over the surface. Press it down in a few spots. If you're covering a large area, get a friend to help you with this step.
  4. Smooth out the wrap: You're bound to have some ripples in the wrap's surface. Use a flat object like a squeegee to smooth the wrap's surface, removing as many imperfections as you can.
  5. Conform the wrap to the surface: If you're covering a curved object like a car, you need to use a heat gun to stretch the film a bit to conform to the contours. Heat 8- to 10-inch sections at a time, working out toward the edges.
  6. Trim excess: Finally, you can trim off the excess material from the edges of the surface you're covering. Make sure you use a sharp blade, so it doesn't tear the vinyl.

If you're covering a flat surface, you may also want to consider using the wet application method, which beginners may find easier and more forgiving. When you start wrapping things, you'll see how easy and fun it can be.
