White Sign Vinyl

As much as we'd like to do so, you can't talk about white without talking about its poplar opposite: black. While many logos and signs include these colors in their branding, there are some that utilize the two colors to the exclusion of all else. White often represents innocence, purity, and new beginnings. Black, on the other hand, can be seen as conservative or intimidating, but it is also often associated with sophistication, luxury, confidence, and strength. While all print and cut media used to be black and white back in the day, using other colors really do make ads pop more. That said, a study in an article from the University of Chicago Press found that, “Black-and-white images can lead consumers to focus on the abstract, essential, and defining components of a product. In contrast, color images can draw attention to the concrete, sometimes unimportant and idiosyncratic features of the product”. So, if you're looking for a gloss, matte or reflective white sign vinyl, please feel free to browse our wide selection of great brands of sign films to get just the vinyl you're looking for.

Where Is the Color White on the Color Wheel?

Truth be told, white doesn't actually have a place on the color wheel although it is used to lighten the primary and secondary colors that appear on it. White doesn’t feature on a traditional color wheel, as it is considered to be a non-color. It is achromatic, meaning that it has no hue. Being the opposite of black, which absorbs all other colors, white reflects and scatters all the visible wavelengths of light.

What Are Some Popular Color Pairings with White?

As we've noted above, white really can't be considered a color, so it doesn’t sit opposite a color on the wheel. Its non-color opposite is black. When paired together, black and white create a high-contrast, striking result. Artists and designers in every era have adopted this dramatic combination. Teaming white with gray creates a monochromatic scheme that is subtle, sophisticated and suited for a range of designs. Because it is without hue, white can be treated as a neutral and paired with a wide range of colors.

What Are Some Other Off-White Hues?

Some other popular off-white hues include:

  • Dusk — contains hint of either lavender, pink, or blue, dusk is a sleepy, subdued and warm off-white.
  • Snow white — contains a small amount of blue, mimicking fresh snowfall or frost.
  • Gardenia — named after the tropical flower found in the Pacific islands, is creamier and softer than pure white, making it more versatile and welcoming as a color in interior design.
  • Honeydew — contains a small amount of spring green, creating a remarkably fresh and rejuvenating off-white hue.

White Sign Vinyl for Your Machine

Irrespective of which type of professional or commercial vinyl cutter you own, you can be sure it will cut any of the white Sign vinyl we sell. Listed below is a brief list of some of the more popular electronic cutting machines you can use with our vinyl:

  • Roland
  • Jaguar
  • Graphtec

In general, standard blades can be used with most varieties of Sign vinyl although we do recommend a 60 degree blade for reflective and glow-in-the-dark Sign films. As always, be sure to check your down force and speed settings before cutting any film types you have not used before to ensure optimal weeding

I recently used 3M reflective vinyl to make a car decal and I must say, I am impressed with the results. The vinyl was easy to work with and adhered well to the car's surface. The reflective properties of the vinyl are also top-notch, making the decal highly visible even in low-light conditions. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase and would highly recommend 3M reflective vinyl to anyone looking to make a high-quality and eye-catching car decal.

Added to my helmet for more safety at night. Blends in really well on the white background. Reflects really bright when a car's headlights shine on me.
