Measuring Your Wood Grain Cherry Wrap

As you may have noticed above, we have taken the time to show you the scale of the pattern of this film. The image with the man (or woman, we're not sexist) shows how the Wood Grain print looks in a 59" (approximately 5 feet) by 72" (6 feet) sheet. The image is to scale so it should be helpful in determining how the print will look on your car, truck, motorcycle, or anything else you decide to wrap. Please note, however, that the entire pattern is not visible here (in other words, the repeating Orion's Belt pattern is much larger than 5 by 6 feet so you won't necessarily get what is shown).

The 12 by 12-inch tile shows you how you can expect the wrap to look on smaller applications like dCherry wraps or skateboards. Again, not every one foot square section will have this exact part of the pattern but it should give you a general idea of what to expect.

Shiny or Subtle, It's Your Choice

All of our Rwraps™ 914 Series films come with a gloss laminate as the default choice. But, since we're all about aesthetic customization, you get the final say. Choose from Gloss, Matte or even No Laminate on your Cherry wrap.

Please note that lamination increases the life of your wrap (this applies equally to gloss or matte laminates) and should always be selected for outdoor applications. Unlaminated wraps are only recommended for low traffic, indoor use.

Made for Makers

The popularity of our Wood Grain film  doesn't appear to be waning and you guys are constantly coming up with novel uses for them. These wraps were originally designed with vehicles in mind but you can use them on any hard, non-porous surface you can imagine. No need for messy primers or additional fluids, simply clean the surface of whatever you want to wrap and apply. Use a razor to cut away any excess film and you're done. What could be easier or better looking?

First Time user on boat interior cabinets and walls. Bringing new life to a 1998 40' SeaRay

I learned quickly that the product likes to be warm. I struggled with smoothing out wrinkles when it was 64 degrees. The next install was in 75 degrees and it laid out very easily.
I am working on the easy part first, the cabinet doors. The area I will tackle next is on the interior walls with curves and tight corners so I am expecting a challenge but the more I work with the product the more I understand it.
A suggestion that would help using grain patterns would be on the backing paper. It is difficult keeping the grain straight on the front. Markings on the backing paper, like is on Christmas wrapping paper, would really help. Straight lines or blocks.

Good evening! I’m looking to wrap a cooler. It’s a vintage cooler so I’d like to have it wrapped close to the original wood grain 70’s finish. All of the patterns I’ve found show the grain goes in the direction of the roll. I’m looking for a perpendicular pattern to the roll. The cooler is 30inches wide by 20 inches tall by 20 inches deep with a lid and I’d like the wood grain to be vertical on it in one piece on the body (as it was originally). Is there any way to accomdate this? Let me know! Thanks!

Hi,

Wrapping a vintage cooler with a specific pattern direction requires some planning and precise execution. Since the wrap's grain goes in the direction of the roll and you'd like the grain to be vertical on the cooler, you'll need to strategize the cutting and application of the wrap.

Given the dimensions of the wrap (60" wide x 120" long) and the cooler (30" wide x 20" tall x 20" deep), you can proceed with the following steps:

Measure Carefully: Determine the exact dimensions and layout of the cooler's surfaces. The cooler has a front, back, two sides, top, and bottom, so you'll need to plan how to cut the wrap to cover all these areas.

Cutting the Wrap: Since you want the grain to be vertical on the cooler and the wrap's grain runs the length of the roll, you will need to cut the wrap in segments that align with the cooler's vertical dimensions. This means the height of the cooler (20") will match the width of the wrap (60"). You'll have enough length to cover the cooler's body.

Cut a strip 20" wide x 120" long to cover the main body (front, back, and sides).

Cut additional pieces for the top, bottom, and lid if needed.

Wrapping the Body:

Start with one side, carefully aligning the wrap's grain direction with the cooler's vertical direction.

Proceed to wrap the other sides, ensuring that the grain continues to run vertically.

Cut and trim the corners as needed to maintain a seamless look.

Wrapping the Lid and Other Parts:

If you also want to wrap the top, bottom, and lid of the cooler, you'll need to cut additional pieces, aligning the grain direction as desired.

Apply these pieces carefully, smoothing out any bubbles and ensuring that the edges align properly.

Finishing Touches:

Use a squeegee or similar tool to smooth out any bubbles and ensure that the wrap adheres properly to the surface.

Trim any excess material, taking care not to cut into the cooler's surface.

Professional Help: If you're unsure about doing this on your own, you may want to consult with or hire a professional who specializes in custom wraps. They'll have the expertise and tools to achieve the desired look with precision.

With careful planning and execution, you should be able to wrap the vintage cooler with the vertical wood grain pattern, even though the wrap's grain goes in the direction of the roll. Make sure to take your time and align everything properly to achieve the best results!
