3M™ 180mC Premium Printable Wrap Film
The ultimate fleet graphics solution for commercial vehicles, transit advertising, and large-scale architectural wraps.
What Makes 180mC Different?
3M™ 180mC is a premium cast vinyl film engineered for plotter cutting and screen printing — not digital inkjet. If you need a film for solvent, eco-solvent, UV, or latex printing, the correct product is the 3M IJ180mC (the "IJ" prefix denotes Inkjet). Both films share the same outstanding Controltac™ and Comply™ adhesive system, but the face film of the 180mC is not treated to accept digital inks.
For cut graphics, vehicle lettering, screen-printed fleet decals, and plotter applications, 180mC delivers unmatched conformability and long-term durability. Its cast construction allows it to stretch into deep channels, over rivets, and around compound curves without shrinking back over time.
Advanced Adhesive Technologies
Controltac™ Technology
Microscopic glass beads on the adhesive surface prevent the film from sticking until firm pressure is applied, allowing the wrapper to slide and reposition large graphics effortlessly.
Comply™ Adhesive
Invisible micro-channels in the adhesive allow trapped air to escape during squeegee application, ensuring a perfectly smooth, bubble-free finish on every panel.
Cast Construction
Premium 2-mil cast vinyl film stretches and conforms into deep recesses and around complex curves without memory effect or shrinking.
Clean Removal
Designed for long-term durability but engineered to remove cleanly with heat, leaving minimal to no adhesive residue behind when it's time to rebrand.

Installation Overview
A professional installation process ensures maximum durability and a flawless finish.
Surface Preparation
Clean the vehicle thoroughly to remove all dirt, wax, and grease. Pay special attention to edges, crevices, and under weather stripping.
Position & Slide
Place the printed graphic on the surface. Controltac™ technology allows the user to slide and reposition the film until the exact placement is achieved.
Squeegee Application
Apply firm, overlapping squeegee strokes from the center outward. Comply™ micro-channels will expel trapped air for a bubble-free finish.
Post-Heating
Use a heat gun to post-heat all stretched areas, deep channels, and edges to 200°F - 225°F to set the vinyl's memory and prevent lifting.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I run 3M 180mC through my inkjet printer?
No. The 3M 180mC face film is not treated to accept digital inks. If you need a film for solvent, eco-solvent, UV, or latex printing, you need the 3M IJ180mC — the "IJ" prefix stands for Inkjet. Both films share the same Controltac™ and Comply™ adhesive system, but only the IJ version is designed for wide-format digital printing.
What is 3M 180mC best used for?
3M 180mC is best suited for plotter-cut graphics, vehicle lettering, screen-printed decals, and solid-color applications where digital printing is not required. Its cast construction and premium adhesive system make it ideal for complex vehicle surfaces and long-term outdoor applications.
What is the difference between Controltac and Comply?
Controltac™ refers to the microscopic glass beads on the adhesive that allow the film to slide and be repositioned before firm pressure is applied. Comply™ refers to the invisible air-release channels in the adhesive that let trapped air escape during squeegeeing, preventing bubbles.
Can 3M 180mC be applied to deep recesses and rivets?
Yes. Because 180mC is a premium cast film, it has excellent conformability. It can be stretched into deep channels and over rivets without shrinking back, provided proper post-heating techniques are used.
Is 3M 180mC cleanly removable?
Yes, it is designed to be cleanly removable with heat for up to its warranted lifespan, making it ideal for leased fleet vehicles and temporary transit advertising.
