I am looking for a product that can be used on leather and may be removal without damage to the substrate. I intend to use this material as a kick plate in a Volvo door to protect the base material. Is this an appropriate application for this product?
Vincent D'Amore May 21, 2020 6:53 PM
Answers
Vincent, wraps are generally meant to be applied to hard, non-porous surfaces like the aluminum panels of your Volvo. They may apply and adhere to the leather, but will eventually lift without using 3M Primer 94 in large quantities. We would not recommend this for your application. If you really wanted to move forward with that panel wrap, maybe just try it on one door to make sure it meets your needs.

Hi, I have looked everywhere for fender flares for my Dodge pickup and have settled on stainless steel ones because of the low slimline profile, but I don’t want the shiny silver look. Can I wrap these? They fit over the fender wells and bolt or clip on under the fender. I just would need the vinyl to be on the outside visible edges, and it needs to be completely weather and UV resistant. Will this wrap work?
Scott B April 30, 2020 8:35 PM
Answers
Scott, Yes! This will work for you Fender Flare project. The vinyl film is both UV stable and outdoor rated. Best of all, you can remove it down the line if you decide to go with a different look. I would probably add a sealer pen to your order since the flares get exposed to more elements that other parts of your truck.

Hi, I just want to wrap a guitar pick guard. The guard is plastic of some kind. What’s the best way to do this and what all will I need? Thanks
Kenny Cochran April 24, 2020 8:11 PM
Answers
Kenny, Wrapping your pickguard is a great project for beginners. As it is generally flat and raised you would first trim the piece of film with the paper backing to the slightly larger than what you would need. Make sure the guard has been cleaned properly, you can probably use the cleaners we offer or alcohol. A little research online may help. Simply peel and stick, you could use a hair dryer to help conform it a little bit around the edges. Use a hobby knife or razor to very carefully trim the edges and remove the excess! Hope that helps.

Will this wrap hold up to the heat of wrapping motorcycle exhaust? And, how much do I need to wrap the exhaust on a vstar 1100?
B-rad April 21, 2020 5:59 PM
Answers
B-Rad, The end use of this film is around 225°F (107°C). I don't know how hot your exhaust pipe typically gets. You can either experiment with a small portion in an area not very visible, or skip wrapping that part altogether. This is not exhaust tape which is typically used for that application. This is vinyl, like a decal or sticker. Most bikes need around 40-56 square feet for a complete wrap. How much you need to purchase depends on your ability to wrap the pipes, if you want it seamless and how much extra you may need for errors. I would simply measure the area and add 20-25% for mistakes.
