Golf Cart Wraps

Golf Cart Wraps

Whether you're zipping across a golf course, traveling around your hometown or giving tours on a business campus, golf carts offer all-purpose transportation. A standard golf cart without vinyl wrapping film blends in with the other carts around it. With brands like 3M™, Avery™, ORACAL® and Rwraps™ at Rvinyl, you can customize your caddie with hundreds of colors and various finishes.

Can You Wrap a Golf Cart?

If you want a new and creative look for your golf cart without a lot of work, wrapping it is a more effective solution than painting. Wrapping requires the following:

  • A moderate time commitment
  • Help from a friend or two
  • Moderate skill and precision

When compared to painting, vinyl wrapping takes less time and removes the hassle and mess.

What Is a Golf Cart Vinyl Wrap?

What Is a Golf Cart Vinyl Wrap?

A wrap film is a vinyl sheet that adheres to almost any surface. You can choose from hundreds of wrap colors, along with various textures, designs and graphics to transform your ride into something striking. Golf cart skins are a more economical and beneficial cosmetic enhancement than paint. They can last long-term, whether you use your cart every weekend or for an occasional ride.

Types of Golf Cart Wraps

The best thing about vinyl is that it gives you the freedom to decide which areas you want to vamp up. You can create a subtle effect with targeted wrapping, or you can make a bold statement with a new look for your golf cart:

  • Total exterior wraps: A complete exterior wrap gives you an exciting new ride, and the vinyl helps to protect your golf cart from the elements— especially the sun. Vinyl material functions and looks like a fresh paint job without the hefty price tag. Plus, you can apply a solid color, design, graphic or logo to your caddie.
  • Partial wraps: You can install a partial wrap on your cart for subtle accents that give you the right amount of pizzazz. Wrap your rims to catch the eye of other golfers, or add a logo to the bumper.

Whether you prefer a total or partial wrap job, there are six main places you can wrap a caddie:

  • Bumpers
  • Dash
  • Fenders
  • Mirrors
  • Rims
  • Roofs

Golf cart wraps aren't just for external use. You can also apply them to the caddie's interior, like on the dashboard.

What Are the Benefits of Golf Cart Wraps?

Both golf carts and vinyl wraps offer a simple solution for your needs. Golf cart wraps provide the following eight advantages over paint or other materials.

1. Eco-Friendly Installation

Painting emits fumes into the air, and paint chips are hazardous to animals. Shavings can also contaminate the ground when you paint your cart. Golf cart wraps are a safe and non-toxic alternative.

Installing a golf cart skin requires vinyl, a squeegee and a heat gun. The materials and application are safer for you and the environment because they don't have any solvents or chemicals. All you need to buff up your caddie with vinyl is warm water and soap instead of harmful and toxic mixtures.

2. Cost-Efficiency

When researching different options to redesign your golf cart, you'll probably notice that a paint job can cost several hundred dollars. That baseline price may increase depending on the amount of detail you want in your graphics. Painting cost also factors in the amount of preparation you need to complete before application.

Premium wraps cost much less than painting, especially if you install the vinyl on your own. You can pay about a third of the price for vinyl as you would for a few coats of paint. Golf caddie wraps give you both quality and value through long-term benefits and low upfront costs. Wrapping is a particularly affordable solution if you own more than one cart because you can place the same logo or design on each vehicle and match them perfectly.

3. Efficient Installation

Painting requires a well-ventilated area, a respirator mask and other supplies for a safe process, whereas vinyl wrapping doesn't require special equipment or space. You can apply vinyl film anywhere, like your garage, driveway, backyard or a professional shop if you need extra space.

You can align, install and make final touches to your vinyl quickly and easily. If you decide you want a different color or choose to cover the entire cart instead of one part, it will hardly put a dent in your headway.

Mess-ups are simple to fix with vinyl. You can either start the application over or apply an overlay for immediate results. In some cases, it may take longer to prepare your cart for a coat of paint than it would to complete an entire vinyl installation.

4. Increased Resale Value

If you plan to sell your golf cart, you must maintain it well for optimal resale value. Premium vinyl film can help preserve the resale value of your caddie, whether the new owner enjoys the cart's original paint job or loves your unique vinyl installation.

Selling a cart with its original paint job intact gives potential buyers more options, but your wrap could be the selling point that grabs their attention. Whichever selling route you choose, the vinyl keeps your caddie in excellent condition with its UV protection layers and resistance to damage and scratches.

5. Less Maintenance

The only supplies you need to maintain your golf cart vinyl are soap, water and a soft brush. Compared to the constant care paint requires— including cleaning, repainting, buffing and polishing — films are less fussy. Paint also requires more time and skill.

Vinyl maintenance is straightforward and takes a single wash to make it look fresh. No matter how you use your golf cart, keep these five maintenance tips in mind:

  • Keep it away from sunlight when not in use.
  • Store it in a dry, cool space.
  • Use a gentle polishing formula if you want a bit more sparkle.
  • Avoid using a pressure washer, which could lift the film and cause it to peel.
  • Develop a regular cleaning schedule to keep contaminants off the wrap that can affect the quality of the vinyl.

6. Simple Removal

One of the coolest things about golf cart vinyl is that it's temporary and permanent at the same time. You can remove the film if you want to swap the wrap or if you want to revert to the original paint job. If you want a new color after a month or a new design in a year, it's doable.

Paint is permanent, but you can remove vinyl at any time without damaging the underlying surface.

7. Superior Durability

Durability is an important concern when deciding between paint or vinyl. Many people favor wraps because they have a longer lifespan, deliver better protection and require less maintenance. What more could you ask for?

The different protective properties of the film safeguard your caddie from the elements. Vinyl wraps are also abrasion and UV resistant. If any nicks occur on your golf cart wrap, you can fix them with simple patchwork.

Vinyl durability also relates to the brand you choose and how well you complete the installation. Make sure to partner with an experienced company that offers trusted brands. When applied with the proper procedures, a vinyl wrap can protect your caddie for years.

8. Total Personalization

If you're a DIY enthusiast, golf cart skins are the perfect solution for vamping up your ride. You can choose from more than 100 colors to complete the vibe of your cart or go for a printed design that matches your personality. You can even choose from 3D finishes, like brushed metals and carbon fiber. Think about applying a glossy metallic film or something a bit more daring like a marble wrap.

Hand painting can be time-consuming and frustrating if you don't have a steady hand for precision. You may also be more limited with designs and logos, depending on your budget. In contrast, vinyl customization is so fun that you may end up making a hobby of it for more than your golf cart. You can also control your costs by using wraps, which allow you to stay within a budget.

Golf Cart Body Wrap Considerations

As you're looking for the ideal golf cart wrap, you may have a few more questions about logistics. Some of the considerations you may want to review include:

  • What else should I know about vinyl?
  • Which golf cart brands can I wrap?
  • How much does it cost to vinyl wrap a golf cart?
  • How much vinyl do I need to wrap a golf cart?
  • How long can a golf cart wrap last?
  • What is the best golf cart wrap brand?

What Else Should You Know About Vinyl?

Aftermarket vinyl can cover almost any material, such as fiberglass, plastic, aluminum, carbon fiber and polycarbonate. The only thing it won't adhere to is rust, so make sure your caddie has no corrosion or flaky pieces of paint.

Vinyl film is fade resistant and won't lift, peel or crack if you complete a detailed installation. Always follow the proper installation techniques and clean your buggy using the correct methods. If you do, the vinyl can last years without requiring touch-ups and patchwork since it doesn't wear over time like paint.

Which Golf Cart Brands Can You Wrap?

You can wrap the non-porous parts of any golf cart style or brand. The list of carts you can wrap is extensive, but here are the most common types of golf carts people like to customize:

  • Club Car: Made in the U.S. and in business since the 1960s, these fully customizable carts are a popular choice.Club Car wraps allow you to modify the classic ride on top of your personalized seats and accessories.
  • E-Z-GO:With E-Z-GO wraps, you can transform the user-friendly carts that offer enhanced safety features.
  • Garia: Want to wrap a cart made in the same plant as a Bentley or Porsche? Wrap one of these! Garia engineers no-emission golf carts that are luxurious and innovative — some even come with refrigerators.
  • Polaris: Polaris carts are eco-friendly and stylish at that. Another great feature is that they're street legal in 47 states.
  • Yamaha:Yamaha is a popular brand that has been around since the 1880s. It's known for its sports bikes, ATVs and golf carts, as well as appliances and industrial robots. Yamaha golf cart wraps can transform your already renowned caddie.

How Much Does It Cost to Vinyl Wrap a Golf Cart?

In general, custom digitally printed golf cart wraps usually run between $185 and $350. The cost of wrapping your cart can depend on:

  • Its size
  • The complexity of the design
  • The brand and type of vinyl you use
  • How long installation takes

The installation time for your project may vary based on your answers to the following questions:

  • Do you want a solid color, design, texture or logo?
  • How much material do you have?
  • What's the size of your caddie?
  • Will you have extra help?

If you're having a professional apply your vinyl wrap, installation time will directly correlate to your installation cost. If you're completing the project yourself, the primary costs will be your supplies and the time you dedicate to the project.

How Much Vinyl Do You Need to Wrap a Golf Cart?

How Much Vinyl Do You Need to Wrap a Golf Cart?

Estimating how much vinyl you need depends on the type of wrap job you're pursuing. Are you looking to complete a full installation that covers the roof, bumpers, fenders, mirrors, dash and rims? Or are you interested in partial wraps that cover specific areas?

You can predict how much you will need based on the type of installation and the size of your golf cart. If you're unsure, you can rely on the professionals for extra guidance. When in doubt, it's safer to order more vinyl than your project requires in case you need to do repairs in the future.

How Long Can a Golf Cart Wrap Last?

Premium quality vinyl can last up to seven years, while the demands of paint require constant, extensive and skilled maintenance and repairs. Both the quality of your material and installation can determine how long your golf caddie wrap might last. To get the most out of your purchase, it's essential to work with a trusted company that offers top vinyl brands.

This was my first time trying vinyl wrap. All in all the installation went well and totally transformed the look of my cart. Wrap was fairly easy to apply and I wouldn’t be afraid to use the product again if I decide to change the look

Overall, I’m very happy how this turned out. Install had challenges but with time and patience it worked out well. I wish all the additional equipment I ordered for the install would of came with the wrap in one package. They arrived the day after I finished.

I received my package, the rolled up vinyl was slightly bent in several places inside the box but looked to be well packed. The color of the vinyl was quite vivid, but unfortunately for me, it was the wrong shade (I needed Pittsburgh Steelers yellow). So I will need to keep looking. It could get expensive, it is difficult to judge colors because of the variabilities of the photograph, monitor used. lighting, etc. Pray I get lucky and order the correct color next time, not returnable or refundable.
