I had ordered some translucent vinyl for a project that needed installed before the store opening. It was a small amount that totaled 3 lbs. that they had in stock. I had 14 days to finish and the vinyl showed up after 13 days? That is a long time for 3 lbs. I live in the continental U.S.....

The time before this I needed a small piece for a repair job, 1' x 2' . Well for some reason Rvinyl didn't use my whole address so when It arrived the post office had it returned to sender. I didn't receive a notification or anything. A week later I called to see what happened? Checked the address they had on file for me, It was correct. So I pointed this out to customer service and they responded saying they would straighten this out. Well, it was not. and the attitude I received made me want to shop somewhere else.

The material is great to work with, the finished product came out great. I used it for a back lit sign and the overall finish was so nice. The matte material was super nice. The only draw back is I couldn't find a color chart on the website, there may be one but I went to google and found the color reference I need to be able to pick out the correct color for my need.

Can I layer this vinyl on top of each other? Not the cut and layer kind..I mean directly on top of each other?
January 5, 2020 6:16 AM
You may also want to use a wet application method on the top layer film, we have had success with that in the past to reduce bubbles.
January 24, 2020 9:35 AM
Yes but you would need to use a primer, heat and squeegee out any air bubbles.

Can this be cut with a Cricut Vinyl cutter?

Hi Jason, Yes, you can easily cut this ORACAL film with any model of Cricut.

I use outdoor vinyl for wood signs. (Oracal 651) I wanted a transparent yellow to look like lemonade that you can see the ice through the yellow. Does this stick like the oracal 651? I'm not sure what this is. lol thanks for the help
June 18, 2023 7:32 PM
You want the ORACAL 8300 which is transparent. This is a translucent film which lets light through but cannot be seen through: https://www.rvinyl.com/ORACAL-8300-Transparent-Calendered-Films

Can I use this product to cover some small LED’s and soften the bright white to a warmer tone? If so, what color would you recommend?
September 24, 2023 5:17 PM
Yes, you can use ORACAL 8500 Translucent Vinyl to cover small LEDs to modify their color or soften their brightness. This vinyl series is designed for illuminated signs, so it's made to diffuse and color light sources effectively. If you're aiming to change the bright white LEDs to a warmer tone, consider the following: Yellow or Gold Tint: A light yellow or gold can give the LED a warm incandescent bulb-like appearance. Orange Tint: A light orange can also warm up the color, although it may be a bit more intense than the yellow. It will make the LED appear closer to a soft white or warm white color temperature. Reddish-Brown or Amber Tint: These can provide an even warmer, almost sunset-like hue. However, note that: The actual effect on the LEDs can vary depending on the original brightness and color temperature of the LEDs, as well as the thickness and color density of the vinyl. Adding vinyl may reduce the overall brightness of the LEDs. Test a small piece first before committing to ensure you get the desired effect. If possible, check the ORACAL 8500 color chart or samples in person to determine which shade would provide the warmth you're aiming for. Lastly, ensure that the vinyl doesn't cause excessive heat buildup on the LEDs, which could shorten their lifespan. LEDs don't usually generate a lot of heat, but it's always good to monitor, especially if they're enclosed or have limited ventilation.
