ORACAL® Craft Vinyl films are, unquestionably the leading provider of vinyl films to the American craft market. Anyone familiar with vinyl crafting will have heard of ORACAL® Intermediate Series 651Calendered vinyl as it has become the industry standard for high performance craft vinyl but ORAFOL (the maker of ORACAL® films) also makes a number of other specialty calendered and cast vinyl products for crafters. But, why is 651 so popular?
In short, ORACAL® 651 crafting vinyl gives you six years of outdoor durability with great flexibility, the ability to use in thermal printing and your pick of more than five dozen colors. An ideal choice for moderately complex jobs that don't require the extra conformability provided by ORACAL® 951 cast films. Ideal for short and medium term outdoor applications (for longer term use we recommend Series 951). Indoor exposure is almost unlimited and its 78# release liner provides excellent weeding and release characteristics. A light blue, silicone-coated paper is used on white vinyl to form a stronger contrast to lettering. Oracal 651 is a performance grade vinyl is well-suited for indoor and outdoor applications. It was originally designed for fleet vehicle graphics making it a perfect choice for cars. The solvent based permanent adhesive makes it a great choice for wet area applications such as boats or other outdoor places. Although you can use it on interior walls we generally recommend 631 because Series 651 has a much higher potential to cause damage when removed.

Craft vinyl is a highly versatile PVC film product that is perfect for crafting, decoration, and scrap booking. This type of vinyl film has a pressure-sensitive, self-adhesive layer on the back that will allow it to adhere to many surfaces from smooth to semi rough. Rvinyl currently carries a wide variety of sign, craft and wrap vinyl but the one which Provo Craft sells as Cricut Vinyl is actually ORACAL® 631. This calendered Cricut vinyl is compatible with any electronic craft cutter, not just the Cricut and is also available in comparable Avery™ Promotional Cal PC500 and 3M™ Scotchcal™ 50 craft vinyl versions.
Looking for a slightly higher grade craft vinyl. Try our so-called outdoor Cricut vinyl which is ORACAL® 651 which gives you longer durability, performance and is better suited for outdoor applications. Other great, higher performance craft and Cricut vinyl films are Avery™ HP750 and 3M™ Scotchcal 7125 series films.
When only the best will do or if you need craft films that are used for marine applications (above the static water line) then you want cast craft vinyl. This cast vinyl is made using a different process from calendered craft vinyl which makes it more resilient, conformable and longer lasting. Naturally, it's a little more expensive too but that's to be expected when you're buying top quality vinyl. The brands and names to know here are ORACAL® 951, Avery Dennison® SC950 and 3M™ 180mC craft vinyl films.

Artwork for your home can be costly, and if you cruise garage sales and antique shops look enough you realize that none of the so-called wood signs almost never say exactly what you want anyways. Using a cutting machine to cut out your own slogan, saying, inspiring words or graphics is ridiculously simple when you use Series 951 vinyl. Seal the wood to your liking, and then apply the graphic in colors that fit your home perfectly.
