Avery™ PR800 Translucent Film

Premium Cast Vinyl for Brilliant Backlit Signage

Translucent Film Overview

Avery Dennison® PR800 Premium Cast Translucent film is engineered specifically for internally illuminated signs and architectural awnings. When backlit, the film provides brilliant, consistent color transmission without hot spots or banding.

Constructed as a 2-mil premium cast vinyl, PR800 offers exceptional conformability and dimensional stability. Its permanent clear acrylic adhesive ensures long-lasting bonding to rigid and flexible sign faces, including acrylic, polycarbonate, and flexible awning materials.

Light Box Applications

Cabinet Signs

Perfect for large-format illuminated sign cabinets with rigid acrylic or polycarbonate faces.

A

Channel Letters

Provides vibrant, edge-to-edge color for individual illuminated channel letters on storefronts.

Backlit Awnings

Adheres securely to flexible awning materials for internally lit architectural features.

Window Graphics

Can be applied to glass for graphics that catch ambient light during the day and interior light at night.

Color Consistency

One of the biggest challenges with backlit signage is maintaining color accuracy. Standard opaque vinyl turns dark and muddy when backlit, while cheap transparent films can look washed out.

Avery PR800 is specifically pigmented to diffuse light evenly. This ensures that your brand colors remain vibrant and true whether they are viewed in direct sunlight during the day or illuminated from behind at night.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use PR800 on a vehicle?
While it is a highly durable cast film, PR800 is designed for backlit applications. If you apply it to a solid, opaque vehicle panel, the color will appear darker than intended because it relies on light passing through it to achieve its true color. For vehicles, use Avery SW900 or HP750.
Do I apply this wet or dry?
Avery PR800 features a standard permanent adhesive (not air-release). For large, flat sign faces, a wet application method is often recommended to prevent air bubbles and allow for repositioning during installation.
Is this film printable?
No, PR800 is a solid-color cut vinyl designed for use with vinyl plotters and craft cutters. If you need to print a custom backlit graphic, you should use a printable translucent film designed for solvent, latex, or UV inks.
What is the difference between PR800 and UC900?
Avery PR800 is a translucent film meant for internally illuminated signs. Avery UC900 (Ultimate Cast) is an opaque film designed for long-term outdoor signage and vehicle graphics where no backlighting is present.
