Second Generation Honda CR-V (2000)
The second generation of Honda CR-V was released in late 2001 and went under a redesign, resembling the seventh generation Honda Civic and included a K24A1 engine. Car and Driver magazine awarded this vehicle the Best Small SUV award for 2002 and 2003. Not many changes were made between the 2002, 2003, and 2004 models while the 2005 Cr-V was given a semi-new design. 16-inch wheels replaced the 15-inch wheels as well as a lot of aesthetic changes were made.

Third Generation Honda CR-V (2006)
The third generation of Honda CR-V was available for purchase in 2006 for the 2007 model year. It featured a rear liftgate, going away from the side-opening rear door and the spare tire wasn't mounted on the rear door anymore. Honda used their standard 2.4 L inline-four engine to power the vehicle in North America while the European and Asian markets were offered a 2.2 Li-CTDI diesel engine.
