Carbon Fiber Films

Carbon Fiber Films feature a textured, 3D appearance, mimicking real carbon fiber. Ideal for automotive wraps and interior accents, they offer a sophisticated, high-tech look. Available in classic black, silver, and occasionally colored variants, these films require precise plotter settings due to their unique texture.

  • History & Manufacture: Carbon fiber films are a modern innovation in the sign vinyl industry. These films mimic the look of real carbon fiber, a material known for its strength and lightweight properties in automotive and aerospace industries.
  • Properties & Uses: They are known for their textured finish and 3D appearance, offering a unique and sophisticated look. Carbon fiber films are primarily used in automotive applications, such as car wraps and interior decorations, but they are also popular in consumer electronics and home décor.
  • Plotter Settings & Colors: These films require precise plotter settings due to their texture. They are typically available in classic carbon fiber black, silver, and sometimes in colored variants.

Chrome Films

Chrome Films provide a mirror-like, reflective finish for a metallic look. Popular in automotive detailing and decorative applications, they demand careful handling during plotting and application. Available in traditional silver, gold, and colored chromes, these films are less suitable for extensive outdoor use.

  • History & Manufacture: Chrome films are a relatively recent addition to the sign vinyl industry. They are manufactured using a process that creates a highly reflective, mirror-like finish.
  • Properties & Uses: Ideal for applications requiring a metallic look, chrome films are popular in automotive detailing, signage, and decorative applications. They are not recommended for extensive outdoor use as prolonged exposure to the elements can diminish their shine.
  • Plotter Settings & Colors: They require careful handling during plotting and application. Chrome films are available in traditional silver chrome, gold, and sometimes in colored chromes like blue or red.

Gloss Films

Gloss Films, known for their shiny, smooth surface, are versatile for indoor and outdoor signage, vehicle wraps, and window graphics. They work well with standard plotter settings and come in a wide array of vibrant and pastel colors, offering a high-impact, vibrant appearance.

  • History & Manufacture: Gloss films are one of the most traditional finishes in sign vinyl. Their shiny, smooth surface is achieved through a specific manufacturing process that ensures a high-gloss finish.
  • Properties & Uses: These films are versatile and commonly used for both indoor and outdoor signage, vehicle wraps, and window graphics. They are preferred for their high-impact, vibrant appearance.
  • Plotter Settings & Colors: They work well with standard plotter settings. Gloss films come in a wide range of colors, including vibrant and pastel shades.

Glow-In-the-Dark Films

Glow-In-the-Dark Films, made with phosphorescent materials, are perfect for safety signage, children's rooms, and creative applications. Emitting a glow in low light, they require specific plotter settings and are commonly available in a standard pale green glow and other pale shades.

  • History & Manufacture: Glow-in-the-dark films are a unique category, made with phosphorescent materials that absorb light and emit a glow in low-light conditions.

Matte Films

Matte Films offer a flat, non-reflective surface, ideal for a sophisticated look in vehicle wraps and architectural applications. Compatible with standard plotter settings, these films come in various colors, including deep, rich tones and neutral shades, providing a modern, glare-free finish.

  • History & Manufacture: Matte films offer an alternative to the gloss finish, providing a flat, non-reflective surface. Their manufacturing process is tailored to eliminate the shine typical in other vinyl films.

I ordered the Rtint™ Smoke Vinyl Film Wrap - Smoke presuming it would be the light grey tint shown on the Rtint web site. What I received was significantly darker than what was pictured on the web site. It is too dark for my application I can't use it for what I wanted it for. It would be nice if their web pictures were acurate.
I'll have to go somewhere else for what I need :(
