How Much Vinyl Do You Need to Wrap Your Fridge?
If you've been considering using one of our high-quality cabinet wrap films
but were unsure of just how much you'll need we figured a quick post would do
the job. Sure, all refrigerators are different but we've covered the most common
sizes and configurations here. Regardless, before you buy we always recommend
that you take accurate measurements yourself and always give yourself a margin
for error. Still, when it comes to cabinet wraps in general and fridge wraps in
particular, you're dealing with more or less flat surface so you can count on a
pretty easy job. Below we'll take a look at some of the most common types of
refrigerators and their average sizes.
How Much Vinyl to Wrap a Standard-Sized Fridge?
In general, it's possible to get a good idea how big a refrigerator is simply
by the fact that it's so-called standard-sized, but, unsurprisingly, the word "standard" isn't precise.
As we said above, if you want exact dimensions, you actually need to know the style, manufacturer and model.
Full Size Fridges with Top-Mount Freezers
Top-mount refrigerators, which place the freezer at eye level and the fresh food compartment below, are the traditional style. Most top-mount refrigerator
and freezer units range from about 23 to 36 inches in width, 65 to 69 inches in height, and 24 to 33 inches in depth. As a result you'll want at least an 84" long
The side-by-side refrigerator features two vertical doors with the
chilled food compartment on one side and the freezer on the other. The typical side-by-side refrigerator measures between 30 and 36 inches in width, 67 and 70 inches in height and from 29 to 35 inches in depth.
Clearly you're going to need to spend a little more but all 3M™, Orafol and
Avery Dennison™ wrapping films come standard at sixty inches in
width so it's the length you need to worry about. To be safe you probably wan
to add extra and choose a 96" long wrap but you can conceivably go for 84 inches and eke it out.
Want to wrap your standard sized mini fridge? Not surprisingly, you only need to purchase a 5 foot long roll of any wrapping film. If you intend to use Rcraft™ Wood Grain film you'll need three sheets:
- Right Side: 24" by 36"
- Left Side: 24"by 36"
- Front & Top: 24" by 48"
Other Refrigerator Styles
If you choose another type of refrigerator, such as one with the freezer on the bottom, the sizes are still fairly typical. With few exceptions, a standard refrigerator will fall near the sizes for side-by-side or freezer-on-top models.
Built-in models may prove a little larger but you literally only have to worry
about wrapping the doors.
