Hood Wraps for Your Ride

Hood Wraps for Your Ride

Are you looking for an eye-catching way to style your ride without redoing your whole vehicle? Hood wraps from Rvinyl are available in hundreds of colors, styles, textures, and finishes, so you can create a showstopping look that you can be proud of. Compared to a paint job, wrapping your hood is a faster, more cost-efficient option that you can easily swap if you change your mind about the style or color in a few years. Plus, Rvinyl hood wraps are durable and won't peel or discolor like the others, so your investment will continue to look brand-new.

What Is a Hood Wrap?

Hood wraps are universal, trim-to-fit sheets of high-quality wrapping film that you order and install yourself. They are available in various colors and finishes to create a specific look on your vehicle, or you can opt for a clear hood film to protect your paint job. You can pair a hood wrap with other vehicle wraps — like a bumper or rim wraps — or leave it as a stand-alone enhancement. When choosing your hood wrap, be sure to measure your hood and purchase more than you think you'll need for complete coverage.

How Long Do Hood Wraps Last?

Most of our clients' hood wraps usually last between five and seven years, though you will see the best results if you remove and reapply it at the four-year mark. Here are some factors that may influence your hood wrap's lifespan.

  • Brand and type: Top brands manufacture their hood wraps from durable, long-lasting material that applies smoothly and looks great. Some brands and series have formulated their vinyl films to last longer than others, depending on their specific qualities.
  • Sunlight exposure: While most Rvinyl car films are highly resistant to fading, it's still a good idea to keep your vehicle out of direct sunlight to protect your wrap's integrity for longer. Park in a garage or shaded area when possible.
  • Care and maintenance: Correct care is an essential part of maintaining your hood wrap. That means avoiding the pressure washer and spot-cleaning your film with a non-abrasive cloth and auto cleaner. Pay close attention to any finish-specific instructions that come with your wrap, as some are not compatible with polishes or wax.

How Much Does a Hood Wrap Cost?

The total cost of a hood wrap depends on a combination of factors, including the hood wraps' height, width, and coverage area, plus the type, color, pattern, and brand you choose. While having your hood wrap installed at a shop can cost as much as $300, we have found that customers usually pay a third of that when they purchase our DIY kits.

What Brands of Hood Wraps Can You Get?

What Brands of Hood Wraps Can You Get?

If you're in the market for a bold hood wrap that is easy to apply and lasts a long time, we've got you covered with vinyl film from the industry's top brands.

Rvinyl offers the following brands and a series of vinyl hood wraps.

  • 3M™ 1080 and 2080 Series: 3M™ hood wraps use a unique technology that lets you reposition your film easily throughout the installation process, with a multi-cast vinyl that fits securely into crevices and corners. Choose from more than 100 colors and finishes, including mattes, metallics, neons, neutrals, and pearlescent hues. 3M™ gloss films also include a clear protective overlaminate.
  • Avery Dennison® SW900 Wrap Films: Avery Dennison hood wraps have earned praise for their long life expectancy — up to 12 years, with proper care — and simple DIY installation. Application is a dry process, with no need for special equipment, overlaminates, or chemical treatments. These hood wraps adhere to compound, flat, convex, and concave shapes, with dozens of colors available. Popular film finishes include gloss, satin, carbon fiber, and matte finish.
  • ORACAL® 970RA and 975 Wraps: With more than 130 colors and styles available, ORACAL® hood wraps are a top seller for their easy installation and six-year life expectancy. • Rwraps™ Vinyl Wrap Films: Customers love Rwraps™ vinyl hood wraps because they are cost-efficient and available in more colors, finishes and styles than other brands. Create the ride of your dreams with unique options, including camouflage, animal print, galaxy, chrome and sticker bomb.

About Rvinyl Hood Wraps

Many "hood wraps" available on the market today are digitally printed decals or graphic kits that only apply to a small portion of your vehicle's hood. These small decals are often expensive, tricky to use and may peel, fade or discolor quickly.

Rvinyl is different. Our wraps cover as much of your hood as you want, including full-hood wraps. We exclusively carry top-quality brands, like 3M™, Avery Dennison, ORACAL® and Rwraps™. You can choose from hundreds of different options to suit your car or truck's needs and create a unique ride without a complicated installation. Rvinyl hood wrap films are ready for instant use, without a complicated lamination or printing process. With multiple strong, stylish layers, you can count on our hood wraps to retain their appearance for years to come.

Enjoy our professional-grade hood films with the following advantages.

  • Endless options: Our multi-cast vinyl films are available in a wide variety of colors, finishes and textures, so you can mix and match them to style your ride however you like. Whether you prefer an understated, neutral gloss or a bold, textured hood wrap that tells a story, we've got it.
  • Easy application: Say goodbye to expensive trips to the shop that leaves your vehicle out of commission for days. Rvinyl hood wraps are easy to apply on your own, thanks to pressure-sensitive adhesives and air-drain channels that provide a smooth, bubble-free finish. Follow the wet or dry application instructions included with your hood wrap kit, and you'll be on the road in no time.
  • Adaptable film: We sell our auto films in rolls up to 25 yards in length, with both removable and semi-permanent options available.

Please note, Rvinyl hood wraps are only suitable for application on factory-finished paint jobs. They are not compatible with aftermarket-finished paint, as these have not cured to the same level as factory paint jobs. When selecting the best hood wrap for your vehicle, measure the area carefully, and remember to factor in enough overhang that you will trim after installation. Feel free to contact an Rvinyl representative if you're unsure which type or size hood wrap is best for your situation.

My first wrap was the hood in my Tacoma. I used Avery Satin Black. I chose Avery because from reviews I watched, it seemed to be the most forgiving product for beginners. I couldn't be happier!

First time ever doing a vinyl hood wrap. It is not easy! It takes a lot of patience and brainstorming. My son and my daughter helped me and I would HIGHLY recommend having 3 ppl to assist with the vinyl.
My hood looks so much better than previously! There are a few spots that got stuck together but not too noticeable. I used a hair dryer (carefully!!) It helped when we needed to get wrinkles out and to stretch the vinyl. Very impressed with the quality!! Highly recommend R Vinyl products!
